ugly papas were one of the leading acts in the belgian rock scene in the early part of the 90s. 23 years after their final release, they are back with their third full-length album. feisty indie rock, jazzy loops, zappa-esque episodes and fela kuti rhythms. with luc dufourmont (two russian cowboys, id!ots, bevergem) on vocals.

bionda e lupo are like little you ll have heard before, a boy/girl band like no other. synth wave is fed a line of modern alienation, delusory disco to a disdainful drum beat, house emptied and ridiculed. rhythms are stark, melodies are as mechanical as the lyrics. -zug der vogel- is sparse, vocals intertwine in an empty embrace whilst bars sparkle. -twoi glasza- is more playful. bright words shimmer against sweeping strings. the past is parodied across the ep but nowhere more so than in -die kinder aus dem park.- a former classic dug out before being peppered by machine gun percussion. the stilted rhyme of -eckstein- closes, a ballad of bittersweet images and lost hopes.

dream control is the collaboration of a legend of the krautrock kosmiche scene and a pioneer of the german electronic scene. zeus b. held, renowned producer (gina x performance and works under his own moniker) and steve schroyder (former member of tangerine dream during their formative period) team up to deliver their debut album -zeitgeber- which celebrates their very own sound and rhythm in a cosmic journey through audio and time. the tracks are a blend of structured compositions and improvisations accented by the throat singing of kolja simon und felix monnich aka alienvoices. the album plays like a technicolor adventure through space with explorations of cosmic disco, dreamlike passages, vocoder lullabies, and space odysseys. zeus b. held began his musical career in 1972 in french progressive art-rock band eruption before joining successful german prog rock group birth control, performing and writing with them 1973 - 1978. he was one of the first musicians to use the sennheiser vocoder vsm 201 in his live sets.

for the third release on decoder recordings, filip xavi makes his debut to the label. the serbian producer and resident dj of the drugstore club in belgrade delivers four superb techno tracks. all of them are characterized by an obscure sound but directly aimed at the dance floor. the first track wd-4d is a powerful opening of the ep, with its successor aw-fl keeping pace nicely. the b side of this ep can t be ignored, as the opening track he-ap kicks off quite fierce. the final composition named d-ui is an excellent hypnotic dj tool.

nyc’s disco powerhouse west end records should need no intro. the home of too-numerous-to-list club classics for over 30+ years is still impacting today on what we know to be club culture. the label started by one mel cheren (rip) with assistance from larry levan and more way back in 1976 is still held in such high regard today with it’s catalogue constantly being played, rediscovered, reinterpreted and loved by waves and waves of new fans and admirers.

the first release on kon’s new kontemporary imprint sees the crate diggin selector, producer and remixer extraordinaire reworking george duke’s late 70s jewel “i want you for myself”.
kon’s masterful arrangement highlights the desirous pleas of lead vocalist lynn davis while showcasing the very ahead of its time instrumentation (there are even hints of larry heard to be heard here) of mr. duke’s musical masterpiece. carefully breaking down and building up the arrangement, kon even pulls out previously unheard vocal gems from george duke himself hidden in the original stems giving the listener a glimpse of the studio vibe during its recording. this release also boasts the original version taken directly from the studio masters of the highly sought after 12”. all in all floor stomping disco magic from one of the world’s best remixers further sonically enhanced by boston native caserta on the mix.

during the mid-80s and early 90s movin’ records defined the new jersey sound. a skate-shop-turned-record-store run by the so-called “fairy godmother of house” abigail adams, movin’s first output was ‘i’ve got the music’ by boyd jarvis in 1987, followed by music from game changers blaze, kerri chandler, tony humphries and smack, straight up “jersey jams” that producers are still attempting to replicate to this day. still the movin’ records catalogue throws up gems that sound super fresh along with plenty of lightbulb moments of musical discovery.
for the most part movin’ records focused on soulful vocal tracks but they peppered a few deeper tracks into the catalogue too. this is one of those releases and one of the rarer titles to find from the label. produced by steve kelly and steve ‘lucky’ benson as 3 a.m., this was the only single under that group name, although they were involved in other productions from new jersey. deep chords, a heavy kick and a low-end bass form the backing for the repeated vocal line “i love this place”. the ‘place of worship’ mix brings an uplifting piano line to the forefront, whilst an organ line jams out through the track with a jazzy walking bassline holding the groove together.

this is the first 12 inch from luke jenner’s first solo project since his infamous new york band the rapture split up. very often first releases are like a statement. both sides of this 12 represent a side of what meditation tunnel is about: epic and melodic on dreamsequence, psychedelic and hypnotic on sunrise. mixed by joakim, whom luke shares a studio with in brooklyn.

we are proud to present the 11th release on going good, fittingly by xi (sex tags mania, sued). with earlier releases fetching up to at least 3/4 times original value, xi s work is in demand and this will be only their 4th release since their first in 2009. quality over quantity being the mantra it would seem.. plus running labels, putting on parties, producing under various other guises and djing/performing live around the world also feeding into the size of output.

a software engineer at ableton by day, sieren’s love for uk influenced bass music and field recording and experimental soundscaping resulted in his apollo debut ‘static polymorphism’ a masterly ep of spaced out street-rave soul.
now returning with the five track ascension ep, frick has tightened and toughened up his sound somewhat (see the caustic bass glower of ‘slinger’), augmenting his starry eyed wonder with a firmer percussive underpinning and more driving tempos. however still present are his preternatural grasp of emotion and atmosphere that marked him out as one to watch - perfectly underscored by the heartbreaking beauty of the title track.
fellow apollo cohort synkro aka joe mcbride was instrumental in the curation of sieren’s debut static polymorphism ep on apollo, hand picking the tracks, as well as road testing them in his dj sets. this time mcbride goes one further, collaborating with frick on the track ‘lost you’ to memorable effect - the beautiful pads and ghostly piano are a perfect synergy of their complimentary skill sets.
this is richly textured and intricately programmed post-bass music that is sure to satisfy fans of burial, dbridge, akkord with its soulful sincerity and warmth.

alpenglühen, the madrid-based monthly nights, focused in ambient techno, emerges in september,2014, inspired by the film -dogville- and the optical phenomenon happening when the last ray of sunshine slowly disappears over the mountains, now, with the moto -exploring the thin line between darkness and light-, alpenglühen, the label, is born, influenced by those sessions. the first installment is produced by the duo, pajaro dune. a young project formed by two well known talented producers from valencia, who gives us a promising kick off release. 4 highly crafted tracks which are somewhere between techno (in its deepest and atmospheric stage), contemporary music and impressionistic electronics. partially inspired on the research by konstantin batygin and michael e. brown on the evidence for a planet the size of uranus between 200 and 1000 au far away from the sun. the titles of the tracks are all but one real objects of our solar system whose movement is theoretically affected by the presence of a distant giant planet yet to be discovered.

loosely inspired by medieval canons/rounds and baroque structures, the album hovers between ambient/electronic experimentations and semi-classical traditions.

after doing a couple of remixes over the past years noise destruction is back on hellcat tunes with a new ep. this dj duo from novi sad, serbia has released tracks for labels like neuform, laus, proloop, headtunes, itech soundsystem, people that make the music,etc. now these guys are delivering the versatile zeebeats ep, packed with true house grooves. heavy baselines, tight rhythms, old school chords and evolving synth lines is what this ep is all about.

tafi allstars is a collaborative recording project between optimo music artists thomas lea clarke (mr tc) and conal blake (whilst) and members of the tafi cultural institute of tafi atome, ghana. after having previously visited tafi atome to take part in the music of the volta region study tours that are organised by tci in collaboration with green door studio, clarke and blake secured funding from creative scotland to travel back to tafi in november 2016 to record a mini-album of tracks that blend the rhythms and melodies of traditional borborbor and agbadza drumming forms and ewe songwriting with electronic instrumentation and dub recording techniques.

a return to the source: ribcage is where it all began for the dubfire project. after years of exploring, subverting and setting brave new benchmarks in the house world, this marked the start of ali shirazinia setting out to set the same creative benchmarks in techno. restrained, drawn-out but beastly when it wanted to be, the original was a serious statement of intent. even at the time you got a sense it was going to be a historic tune. loco dice especially felt that when he signed it to desolat 10 years ago. to celebrate this time-flying milestone, dubfireÆs recruited two of the most respected names possible for remix duties. first up, the unstoppable, unavoidable, unquenchable dense & pika who keep within the dramatic rising template but with a whole new set of instruments and texturesà and a percussion palette that absolutely sizzles when the whole groove kicks in mid-way. phenomenal. hot on their heels comes a unique remix invitation to on-u legend and one of the ukÆs most decorated and treasured studio controllers adrian sherwood. turning in a serious techno re-cut that pays tribute to every element and takes over 12 minutes to make sure they each shine amid the head-twisting pools of tripped-out decay, itÆs clear his time with pinch has had a profound effect. two incredibly well considered and detailed remixes that remind you what remixes should beà brave new chapters of a story we all love being told. these will sound great when the 20th anniversary remixes are commissioned in 2027.

inaugurating the release, the cleverly designed oberservate drives forward with relentless kick drums that merge into self-indulgent pads slowly growing into a stargazing techno tale. p.leones remix sticks to the originals covertness while adding more depth by peeling out the pensive atmosphere as his lead synth gears more empathically towards the dance floor. opening the flip, discrete circuits ambient version of remote conversation in which the monologic acid line encounters blood boiling pads passing through some unknown territory. blind observatoryÆs remix rips out the principal elements from the original in order to create a pulsating ominousness reminiscent of his trademark neo-futuristic journeys that are roaming through cinematic sci-fi realms.

90s freak-beat enthusiasts may recognize this record as oringally released on temple records new york in 1995. we are such fans of the label that we ve teamed up with khan (aka bizz od, 4e, gizz tv....) to start a new series of releases pulling from temple s vaults. the first in the series sees khan and brother cem (aka jammin unit and 1/2 of the legendary air liquide) unleashing a torrent of acid-tinged jack in the form of you make me function and fun house . drummy madness for the most unhinged hours of the dance. pressed on clear vinyl and bearing the original temple logo as homage to the label.

commonly found lurking around l.i.e.s., technicolour and w.t. records, florian kupfer has plenty of credentials in the noisier end of the hardware house and techno scene, so it makes perfect sense to find him sidling up to valcron video in collaborative moder with torn hawk. the results are predictably excellent, from the gnarled emotional wrangles of -fake blood to the blown out ambience of hungry for candy. sweet tooth comes on like a dishevelled club workout, and then manipulation rounds the record off with a tongue in cheek spoken word and ambience piece that packs some serious music underneath the irreverent chit chat.

does the world need more acid? yes it does! the r-a-g trio aka dutch producers ma spaventi, g-string & aroy dee deliver three raw acid-jams with aroy on the couch working the mic. the lyrics of dreadfully nervous are based on a edgar allan poe story. . dreadfully nervous (aryd s acid mix) is a gurgling brew of squelchy acid with dark vocals and pinging cowbells pulling you in all directions. coarse claps and ever more wild synths encourage you to cut loose and make for another timeless cut. dreadfully stoned is more stripped back, with a rubbery arpeggiated synth the main hook over subtle, supple drums. those dark spoken word vocals are back again and the whole thing is freaky and unsettling as a result. last of all is the bright and glistening no soul with metal hits and claps and prickly acid all bursting out of dusty chicago drums. it s raw and sure to fire the synapses just like r-a-g productions always do.

earth, wind & fire are obviously one of the greatest bands of all-time and both of these remixes are works of art in their own right. on the a side we have the much in-demand blaze shelter remix of -fantasy- which stretches this classic to 8.55 and finishes with an unbelievable phillip bailey acappella. as though that wasn t enough we ve put the much sought-after masters at work remix of -can t hide love- - a staple records since its debut in 2002.

latest mcde features the talents of the mysterious jayson bros... no idea who he/they are but the results will certainly satisfy fans of the label! ltd 2017 repress

chico buarque construcao revisited by l_cio is a beautiful debut project part of a doc series of releases combining classic brazilian names with doc artists and producers. l_cio (laercio schwantes) the man with the transverse flute known for some of the freshest and unique tracks coming out from brazil is behind this gemstone. increasingly building a legacy of fans following his live performances and recent releases on doc records (vazio, traffic, people talk, schwantes), this man is a non-stoppable 30 hours machine gun. on this long awaited 2-track limited edition vinyl release, l_cio and gui boratto kept the roots of this classic track construcao. however they added all the proper elements of a techno dance floor knockout. by inserting malicious baselines, flutes and strings they generated aggressive melodies while keeping all characteristics of this epic song. voted as the greatest brazilian song by rolling stones magazine, construcao was originaly recorded by chico buarque in 1971 with production by roberto menescal. released during military dictatorship, chico buarque criticizes the way of life of the brazilian workers, comparing them to machines. the song is known for its interchangeable last words, used as if they were pieces of a board game, as said by buarque. generatiions apart, construcao (l_cio & k_ri version) and construcao (l_cio & borattos deconstructed mix) are the first ever authorized remixes in over 45 years. l_cio the latest dance floor brazilian soldier, a menacing builder of beats completes an epic turnnig point by editing and lapidating a classic poetry. with a b side dub version beutifully crafted by label boss gui boratto, this limited edition pearl is finally here for our joy!

vase presents himself with a massive debut of the potrait of his mind, and the way he thinks. three cuts, and an amazing painting from mr. mike parker are giving to this ep a very big impact. the simple act of paying attention can take you a long way.

for the third binary cells imprint, the word is given to marla singer. -re-20- is a powerful industrial techno stepper combined with driving raw mechanic beats. b side includes bas mooy and endlec visions. the dutch and greek artists are delivering two massive remixes, transforming this ep in a brutal straight and effective dj tool.

after the well received first ep -belle epoque- two sided agency continuous to deliver diverse and contemporary acidic techno tracks. the a-side engages in a contemplative and cinematic journey. characteristic 303 lines are the common thread of -bonjour tristesse-. the b-side provides haunting rave ready material for techno stomping grounds. visually the ongoing collaboration with graphic designer lena lüem takes on a minimalist post-punk aesthetic partially indebted to the legacy of swiss graphic design.

emotional rescue and malka tuti recognise their shared passion for globe-trotting sounds and team up to present this album from c cat trance, a project from john rees lewis who was formerly of post punkers medium medium. it s no surprise to learn that this was a project of the 1980s, as all the hallmarks are there. with the same outernational attitude that made the work of eno, hassell, czukay, wobble and scores more so alluring, this collection shines a light on a true gem of the era and provides a fresh pressing of some stone cold leftfield party groovers like shake the mind.

the second ep of samuel rohrer’s range of regularity album presents two more striking reinterprations. these new remixes provide an intriguing parallax view of the original tracks, using the percussive eclecticism of the parent lp as a starting point from which to journey into sonically vibrant, feature-rich territories. the production specialists on hand for this project include burnt friedman and ricardo villalobos. villalobos, has already formed a strong working relationship with rohrer’s ambiq trio, lends his talents to both of the eps. (ror remixes i - amel-ep716). nonplace label boss friedman, as well, has carved out a unique space for himself within the electronic world, logging several decades’ worth of releases that with dub-wise production sensibility, skewed humor, and riots of tone color. though each individual remix has its own character, they are all united in their ability to provide a quick cure for fatigue with the common “loop”: though not improvised, they are strung together from fleeting phrases that evolve as if they are taking on a life independent of their creators. burnt friedman’s own dramatic interpretation of “microcosmoism” pairs up his consciousness of deep bass and analog inventiveness with rohrer’s continually transforming sound objects, making for a flowing and wordless narrative that simply dares listeners to stop paying attention. feeling more like a collaboration in “real time” than a remix proper, friedman brings his characteristic ‘mad scientist’ wit to the proceedings and delivers an energetic piece that simply glows in the dark. this is complemented nicely by villalobos’ remix of “microcosmoism”. it carries the energy level of the 1st ep over to a new disk, while heavily experimenting with feelings of emotional ambiguity. at some points aggressive and at other points merely curious, this mischievous collage of attitudes feels as inspired by the questing jazz of sun ra as it is by continental techno. contemplative keyboard runs, enthusiastic spring-like percussion and malfunctioning machine chatter all coalesce to make this a most fascinating piece of multi-purpose electronic music.

japan is our first collaboration. the ambient sounds on this record are fragments from our month-long stay in japan during spring 2015: hundreds of tokyo ravens in yoyogi park, an old song found in an old man s small shop in kyoto, the bird-like traffic signals in naha, okinawa, blending with the distorted voice of a man with a megaphone and a message... back in stockholm, these sounds became documentary elements in our music as well as sources for creating new sounds. the small, beautiful bowl we had brought home went to pieces, and the sonic character of the ceramic pieces turned into a delicate drone.

on this record ben sun presents an old style lp format - 40 minutes of moods and grooves interwoven with an intimate story, of individuals struggling to live freely in a time of oppression. after a sultry jazz opener where the characters are introduced, the lp kicks off with a sweet and slow soul track in work again, underpinned by a rotating acid bass. third comes salty tears, the underground disco floor-filler (original limited 12 version) finding a second home on vinyl. your camera and monday usher in some moody rhythms to complete the first side. sin casa opens the flip with some minor-blues improvisation that gives way to a spacious deep house jam, where the protagonists emerge again. still missing shows deeper shades of a eurobeat style - an emotionally compelling club tune that sounds somewhere on the italo side of 1980s manchester. the story comes to a conclusion with cowardice, and the casual jazz-house sounds of mamans lover. killer album!!
